Flavour Of The Month?

Gold may not be in the mania stage yet, but it's beconimg more and more noticed. The latest company to jump on board the gold trend is none other than Baskin-Robbins. Its flavour of the month for May is "Golden Oreo Gold Rush."
Who says you need to head west to find gold? Simply head to the nearest Baskin-Robbins for its newest flavor creation, Golden Oreo Gold Rush ice cream. The May Flavor of the Month is a perfect blend of solid gold flavors – lemon custard ice cream and Oreo icing ribbon, topped with Golden Oreo cookie pieces.

"We love creating bold new ice cream flavors that generate excitement," said Brian O'Mara, Baskin-Robbins Vice President of Marketing. "Golden Oreo Gold Rush combines one of America's favorite flavors – lemon custard – with one of the world's most beloved cookies – the Oreo – to create the gold standard that is sure to excite taste buds everywhere."

How long before we see gold bars as prizes in sweepstakes? I remember McDonald's running such a campaign right near the top of the '70s bull market, even though I was only a kid at the time. Top prize was a quarter pound of gold, tying in with the quarter-pounder.

[Come to think of it, government lotteries are missing a real trick by not offering gold as prizes. Not to be cynical, but I suspect they won't until gold gets toppy. That was the case for the McDonald's contest.]
